- 1999 Ford Ranger XLT
Hey everyone, first post here. I've got a major issue.
I own a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4, and 4WABS. 3.0 V6 Vulcan engine.
I bought the truck on 5/4/2015, and from that time it did not have the ABS light on. Shortly after that, I replaced both my front and rear shocks. About that time the ABS light came on.
Last night, I found on the driver's side where the sensor plugs in, one of the wires had been damaged and where then separated. I managed to repair that somewhat easily, although I had to take the bumper off to get better access to it.
With that wire repaired, all three connectors (front left&right, rear) read around 2.5 volts each. The rear sensor reads 1911 ohms, the front left reads 420 ohms, and the driver's side sensor reads 470 ohms.
armed with that knowledge, I went out on the web and found FORScan.org, a website where I downloaded the windows beta obd2 scanner program. I already had the usb to obd2 connector so I gave it a try.
I ended up getting the following codes, although it is worth noting I had the battery unhooked over night.
c1155, c1233, c1145, c1230, and c1102.
During normal braking, nothing odd happens. Ranger comes to a nice smooth halt. If you clamp down really hard, like standing on it, the tires of course squeal as you'd expect. Does not pull to either side or make any noise aside from the tires sliding on the pavement. All four corners recently had their brakes redone. New springs, shoes, and cylinders on the rear, new disks calipers, and new pads. Brake fluid is at the max.
So, bottom line, what ought I check and/or replace first? A big thank you to anyone and everyone who tries to help me.
