Of course, HP gains would likely vary from vehicle to vehicle, and could only be positively determined by testing (disclaimer! ). That said, Apten claims about 10-20 hp, Flowmaster claims 15, and I'd estimate MAS and TB to provide more improvement that the Flowmaster or air intake alone. From the manufacturer's claims, I'd estimate 30 hp tops. I don't have a chip, but my new MAS and TB, coupled with the Flowmaster and intake made a substantial improvement in my high-end power. I plan to have my rig tested (unfortunately I don't have a baseline before) to give me an idea of how much it's improved compared to a stock 94X.
I would definitely recommend the upgrades from a performance standpoint. On the flip side, however, the mods are expensive and I suspect decrease fuel efficiency. You must consider your personal budget and weigh in the fact that, although we love our X's, they will one day make that journey to the eternal junkyard in the sky.
On a 91-94 a MAS will add some power and throttle response after the air filter, throttle body, and exhaust have already been upgraded. Add a chip and you'll feel nice
Someone on here with a 1st gen did Apten chip, TB, MAS, KKM, and cat-back and they dyno'ed at about 190 hp. I think the range was 189-192 hp on the engine. Stock 93-94 is 160 hp at the engine so that's quite a good improvement if you ask me.
