i have seriously debating on whether im going to put an intake and superchip in my 01' sport. i noticed jcwhitney sells mass airflow sensors for clost to $300 i believe??

has anyone done all of these mods together?? or at least has someone used the sensor?

I cut the front of the air box on my '01 Sport and was very pleased with the results. I am in the process of getting a Borla filter and would like to see if there is much, if any performance difference between this set up and the KKM and Volant systems.

If I were going to install a new intake, I would go with the Volant. Take a look at it, its quality. A true cold-air system as opposed to the open element K&N, KKM and Airaid systems.

If it's the Granatelli MAF sensor, I'd avoid it at all costs. Only heard bad things about them. Go with a bigger TB first - you'll get better throttle response.

A MAF isnt going to do anything for you unless you have opened up the exhaust , and or intake. I would do a cat back, headers, open element intake,TB and then a MAF in that order for engine mods. The MAF alone wont do anything, but it will help with the combination of bolt ons. JMHO

If you do get one I would look at Vanir closely- they have an adjustable MAF so you can adjust the fuel trims high low for future mods(cam, heads, intake, etc)

good luck

Vaniar sell ProFlow mass airs called pro-m's and Granitelie has joined with pro-m so there are the same product. Proflow is the leader in the after market mass air industie and has the bess ones on the market. i have had very few problems with them. i prefer to buy my mass airs from pro-m instead of Granatelie but it should not make any difrence.

I don't know about an explorer since I have not changed my MAF, but doing so on all other cars I've had does make a difference with no other mods. 10 hp on a V8 anyway.
I would also stay away from a Granatelli. I only had trouble with them. Look into a Pro-M, very good results!
