Massachusetts Laws Regarding Modified Exhausts

Does anyone know what the MA laws are reguarding modifying your exhaust with a cat back system? If my X gets louder will I still be able to get it inspected?

4x4tribal, I am from mass and have a flowmaster delta 50 series muffler, and new piping from the cat back. I have had an inspection with this and I believe the only thing they really care about is the emissions. I also know the guy that owns the shop pretty well too, but he would also let me know certain things like that too. I think you are in teh clear for cat-back exhausts. I'd be wary of changing the cats without doin gmore research fi you happen to want to do that.

Live in Boston. Flowmaster 50 series and new pipes from the cat-back. No issues. Of course, we all know how it is around here: if the guy is having a bad day, then........

Boston guys, I'm shopping for a catback to compliment my new Torque Monster Headers. What shops did you use, and would you use them again?

A good company in the Boston area is Lou's Custom Exhaust. Thet have quite a few locations in the area. Check out their webiste at http://www.louscustomexhaust.com/ they have pics of some of the vehicles they have done and a map of their locations. I had mine done at the Lawrence shop. And yes, I would use them again, and probably will for my next vehicle.
