Well I know its a little late to be asking but I'd like to know what I've gotten myself into. I just ordered myself a set of four Maxxis MA-751s (Bravos) in 31x10.50 for my Explorer 4x4. Has anyone had any experience with these tires? It was either them or the Buckshot Mudders and I chose the Bravos due to them being more of an AT tread and I rarely take the X off road, it usually lives on the pavement or old strip mine roads so the deepest hole is about 12 to 18 inches and not really a gumbo type mud.

The thing that has me worried is that the tires don't carry the 50K mile warantee that the P metrics do. Is their something I don't know about with these bigger tires?

Any information will be appreciated, I don't pick these tires up till thursday so I can still back out if I need to.

Sorry I have no experience with their car tires, but everyone loves their ATV tires

I tried that before I started the thread, you’ll find no relative information in that query. But thanks for the help…

Anyone else know of anything about these tires? I do know that their atv tires are great, most of my crew either run Maxxis or GBC tires and swear by them (I run GBC Dirt Devil XTs on my Kawi 650).

Picked them up

Well it started snowing pretty hard today and we went under a winter storm advisory so I went ahaead and picked my tires up this evening. They look great on the X, my only regret is that they don't have more lug spacing but that was to be expected with an AT tread any plus anything is better than my Wrangler RT/S'.

You may also be interested in the fact that the Maxxis tires aren't quite as tall as my Sidewinder MTs on my effee but they are a little wider (Sidewinders are mounted on 15x8s too).

I'll let you know how they do in the snow after I get to run them on the way to work in the morning, we're supposed to get several more inches and the county won't have the road clear in time for me to leave for work.

BTW I prefer holding off on regearing my speedo in case I get a speeding ticket, recal saves your insurance premiums!

really? any more info on that saving insurance premiums thing?

wha, wha????

Did I hear something about saving on insurance...

Recalibration....wha???

I got a speeder I'm fighting now... :) Anything I throw in there would be nice!

Tickets

For the most part bigger tires make your speedo read lower than actual speed. If you have not recalibrated your speedo after you went to bigger tires or if you have a spare gear you can have your truck recalibrated between the time you get your ticket and the court date, take the reciept and reports in to the judge and you can generally have the charges dropped or changed to defective equipment. This will keep a speeding ticket from going against your insurance and raising the premium.

That's exactly what I am doing. My lawyer said that when you do what Muddlover and bring all that junk into court they will change it over to a non-moving violation. He said that the insurance companies don't really care much about non-moving violations because that doesn't show how you can operate a vehicle safely, kind of a parking ticket type of thing. So that is why your insurance will not go up. My court date is next week so this better work out right

Well I got to run the Maxxis 751s in a little snow and ice last night, they performed excellent with my only real complaint being with my explorer not the tires (freaking Control Trac clunk). I also have to say that they rode and handled quite well on wet pavement giving only minimal chatter. Once mounted up they measure about .5" to .75" taller than BFG KOs and appear to have a wider footprint, however I would still go as far to say that you could still run 32x11.50s with very minimal to no trimming.

Not yet, I should have my film developed this week though and I'll try to post some then.

Maxxis' site

Untill I get my film developed you can look over the other Maxxis tires on their website . As I said before, I chose the 751s since they seem to be a pretty good AT design, however they have everything from pure offroad design to pure street racing. My 31s have a fatter look than the ones on the website, probably because I have them mounted on stock teardrops though.
