Maybe a new explorer owner

In an Explorer for DD and for mileage I wouldn't lower than 3.73. If you do a good amount of highway driving I would go 3.55.

3.73's are limited slip, that's the appeal to most people hwy or not... I wish I had the 3.73's instead of the 3.55's

You can have limited slip in any ratio.

I meant from the factory :).

Interestingly, I have the Class IV reciever, and my door sticker states I am running 3.73's, Open diff. I wish I had the LS. My wifes XLT is 3.73 LSD.

Maybe they ditched the LSD for the 05's???

As far as I know, the towing package included the Class III/IV Hitch, 7 pin power socket, and 3.73's w/ Limited Slip.

You should totally swap rears with your wife's XLT :p:

Hey pedar05 could i see a picture of your truck. im going to put that 3in 2.5in kit if i get my brothers with 265s. I just wanna see how it will look. Im a little iffy about the body lift cause the frame shows enough as it is. so i might just do the suspension if i see what it looks like.

I have everything but the LSD....thought about swapping our the rearends. She told me that was fine, until she got stuck in the snow or mud then I was gonna pay!! ;)

I have a friend in the automotive industry that owes me a favour. He's going to get me all the necessary stuff to convert mine. He's looking for the rear end out of a Cobra. Built to last and carbon fibre clutch packs!! :D

It still looks pretty rugged with just the suspension (in a good way lol). Youve done a good job with that x.

Ive made up my mind and im going to do the swap with my brother. Just need to find out how much money hes going to pay me and then thatll go to window tinting and lift. ill post some pictures when i get it

good choice, i knew once you saw a lifted X you couldnt resist but to trade. lol

If i were you go with the body lift and get nerf bars and the frame will seem to be tucked under pretty decently

welcome to the fourm, (now that your getting an X)

lol, you should tell her that if she knows how to properly operate her vehicle she won't get stuck :p: (Although I know if I ever said that to my wife I'd pay for it).

Cobra LSD with carbon fiber clutch packs...damn dude, you really aren't messing around.

Even though LS would be nice I've never had any trouble getting around in any snow or anything with a 4WD open diff. Explorer.

i dont expect there to be any issues, but it just makes cornering all the more enoyable :)

the explorers do real well even on my 2wd with terra graplers I went up a clay hill after rain towing a 6x10 box the other night. it was a 25-30degree hill I hit it with some speed but not bad. There was more clay thrown up on one side then the other but it pulled up it alot better then I thought for a minute i thought i was screwed.

we got some bad directions for picking up some furniture from craigslist ended up going down a trail someone made for sneaking into some forest.

E locker in 30days hopefully. :D
