Would like to increase turn signal rate. I know there is an (old style) metal strip "relay" that I can remove/replace under my dash. Would anyone happen to know if these quasi "relays" are sold by speed/duration, etc? Or, maybe if I modify the existing metal strip I can manipulate pulse speed?

Thanks for your time!

Pretty sure you can change the resistor in the flasher to a lower value, if you can use a soldering iron. Might be illegal to flash fast though, I'd check.

Or install led bulbs. You'll get fast blink with them. Slow it down, once again, with a resistor of proper power rating.

They sell timer flashers that you set the blink rate with a potentiometer.

Good luck getting a question answered at an auto store without a time machine.

Don't try messing a bimetal strip itself. Kinda difficult to do that effectively. Any physical deformation will make it act weird and unreliable.
I have used modern transistor flashers for old motorcycles, they work on LED and filament/incandescent. They are stupid cheap . I bought a few at <$2.00 each. They are adjustable with a screwdriver. Haven't done this on the explorer though.
Remember to test your hazards after messing with the blinking system.

I’ve seen them available in regular and fast, but that might have been years ago and not a thing anymore.
