I know this is a mostly an Explorer site but I wanted to ask if anyone has seen a mesh grille and the mesh bumper grill insert for a 2000 Mountaineer. If you have please let me know.

mountainers are the same as an explorer. its a site for all of them

Try searching for it on ebay and see what you get.

You can get mesh at Home Depot. for WAY less than any custom source.

I made the home depot mesh grill for mine. It cost $8 for for sheets of gutter guard. I trimed the pieces to fit and mused zip ties to hold it in place. Looks just as good as the $120 speed grill only for alot less money.

hey critical, do you have any pic sof your mesh grill?

Is the gutter guard mesh, stainless or what? How did you frame it, or did you. Some pics of your home made would be appreciated. Did you just overlay it over the existing grille? How would you suggest I hold up the mesh in the lower bumper opening. It seems like I would have to bolt it on or something. Please post some pics of yours. Remeber I have an 01 Mounty. Thanks

Check out Tas98's elite page I think he has a how to with pics.

i couldn't find tas98's "how to"

this is something i'd be really interested in. i second the request for pics/instructions! :)

I couldnt find it either. I email him so I hope he responds. Do check out his pics thought. His Explorer is nice, very nice. He did an awesome job on the mesh grille. I email him on where he got the material to make.

i will get a pic of my homemade bumper grill in a few min's..i used a grill thingy from a 01 and painted it silver then made the bumper insert..pic's soon

ok here's pic's!

If anyone knows where Tas98XLt how to do thread is on the mesh grill please let me know.. Blue your grille pretty nice also but I am lookin for something like Tas 98XLT, that type of mesh. The weave opening are smaller than yours. I would at least like to find out where Tas98XLT found that type mesh if he is willing to share that info.

I did the home depot thing last summer, I wouldn't mind redoing it (parts of it don't quite look right, but I was in a rush to get it done).....can anyone find this mysterious how to?

I have never seen my name so much in one thread! :D :p

Cut center piece out of stock grille, buy F150 speed grille, cut it down so it will fit in Explorer grille, make some brackets to hold it in place. That's it! ;)

I don not have any pics yet but you need to pull the entire front grill off the truck along with the corner lamps. Then mine had a grey type of grill behind the factory grill. I just held the gutter guard up to that and trimmed it to match. Then I used zip ties to hold it in, then just put everything back together. I have not gotten to the bumper yet, maybe someday when the temp goes above 20 degrees.

TAS98XLT, where did you buy this F150 Speed Grille? Did it require for you to buy two F150 speed grilles to have enough material to do the upper and lower mesh grilles? I am assuming that you welded the brackets to the back of each of the bumper grilles? Also can you let me know what type of cutters you used to cut out the material once you made the template of the Explorer grille. All I can say is that you had a terrifice idea. Looks professionally done in the pics. Did you think about my offer to you in the email I sent you? I be willing to you your price for time and materials to make me an upper and lower grille for my 01 Mounty. If you are not interested I hope that you at least supply me with the above information. Thanks again and good job on that Explorer!

Christian, yes I bought 2 F150 speed grilles to do the top and lower parts in stainless steel. You can buy them from different places, like www.truckperformance.com or www.stylinconcepts.com . As for the brackets, I just drilled some holes and bolted them in place. The material is not hard to cut, you can use a dremel or sheet metal cutters.

Here are some pics:

The grille shell has limited space for any kind of brackets. I had to use some screws at the bottom to hold the ss grille in place. I will be redoing this some day soon.

Sorry, but I can't do this for you. I do not want to be responsible for any f**k ups that may occur.;)

Hmmmm...

What did you use too cut out the plastic grill? Dremel?

Also you can buy simmiler mech at Osh or Home Depot. I comes in big sheets. Should be near the sheets of metal and steel dowls.
