Ok, so my 93 XLT recently got new brake pads, rotors and repacked bearing. After about 500 to 1000 miles later, I started getting a metal on metal clunk coming from the front end. It goes away under braking, above about 25 MPH, and under acceleration (not sure on the last one, can't really hear anything over the exahust). I have had those bearing apart, repacked, and retorqued 3 times in the last 4 days and it won't go away. Is it possible the something in the brake system (I.E. caliper, pads, retaining clips for pads, retaining clips for caliper) are loose and allowing something to have play? Thank much!

Because you say hubs I assume a 4x4...you say repacked, are you sure it wasn't in need of NEW bearings? Also the dana 35 ttb is kinda known for wearing out bearings due to the minimal spacing between the two bearings. If something was loose in the brake area I would think you would feel it when braking. There shouldn't be anything turning up front unless you have it in 4 wheel drive or have switched to manual hubs and leave them locked.

...It could be missing the pad retianing clips allowing the pad to rattle...It also may be sticky caliper pins...If they reused the existing pins or didn't grease them, this will give a clunk during braking...
