Might be getting an X3

My mom's looking at the BMW X3's (she has a Yukon right now) They look pretty nice, hopefully she'll get it because I get to drive whatever she get's (I probably drive the yukon more than my explorer!)

Highly overpriced? The X3 costs a ton less then the X5 and has almost identical cargo/people carrying ability. The X5 is the overpriced one.

Just my opinion, but with the base price only about $5k less for the 3.0 of each, there isn't a big price difference (the 4.4 does add a fair increase though). There is a reason they have a lot of incentive money on the car--I have seen adds for $2000 down, $299/mo leases.

Don't ever DARE Mention a BIMMER again on this board. Do a search. My XL has been wearing damage from when I pegged an X5 that pulled out in front of me a few months ago. Still pushing for my lowsy $500 insurance check.

the x3 is JUNK. I'm a valet and i get to drive all the latest and greatest cars out and definitley have to say that it feels more like a honda than anything else. it doesn't have that BMW "feel" to it- the motor sucks, teh suspension sucks, the doors are light and feel like crap (not like your typical bimmer with heavy doors that feel like they are high quality). If you want my opinion, look at the LR3 or XC90 (2 of the best SUVs on the market in that price range) or the tuareg if you want to take a gamble on them improving their quality over years past (the same goes for the land rover)...my favorite is the tuareg, foillowed by the LR3 followed by the XC90, but if i were to buy one on my own, i would get the volvo just because i know it would last forever (if i wanted to wheel it def. wouldnt, however).

I also really, really like my FX35. We drove all of em (not the X3 obviously because it wasn't out) and the FX is just so much more fun then the rest, everything else (except the X5) is just a hopped up Minivan compared to this.

I would happily drive it instead of my Lexus I think...but my wife won't let me near it

The engine in that thing, even our 35, you get on it and it sounds like a 350Z. Really, really nice vehicle.

The initial Touareg and Cayennes had some quality problems, but those have mostly worked out. I haven't had a chance to drive the VW, but having put a couple thousand miles on Cayennes, they are great. Just go with the V8, because the 6 isn't powerful enough for the weight of the truck (and the VW engines have less power). The VW also has the adjustable height air suspension and runs about $10-15k less than the Cayenne.

I finally saw an LR3 on the road the other day, and it looked pretty good on the outside--haven't been in one yet though.

Yeah, I like the tuaregs (however you spell it) but my mom hates how they look, Shes also looking at the RX330 (Lexus) I think I like the porsche cayenne the most but it's about 10k more than they want to spend.(because they don't want the base model) (THE LR3s are so ugly IMO and so are the volvo ones)

X3 is no comparison to the X5. The X5 handles better than the majority of regular toyotas, hondas, etc, even some of the bigger nicer cars like the E class mercedes. The FX35/45 are also awesome... but out of the two I would rather have the X5... even still, I have driven an FX45 (which is awesomely fast and tight) but not the 4.4 X5... although I hear the 4.4 X5 is dreamy too.
