Might go with 31's - what about spare?

As a part of my research I did find this pic. Nothing really to add here just thought it might be of interest. Michelin marketing collateral.

1. 3D active sipes provide improved handling.
2. Three circumferential grooves provide exceptional resistance to hydroplaning.
3. Silica tread compound provides exceptional wet handling and braking.
4. Additional sipes and large lateral grooves for improved snow traction.
5. Super high tensile steel belts for durability.
6. Nylon cap maximizes the tires contact with the road for improved handling and tread life.

That nylon cap is the big difference between the Michelin and other truck/SUV tires, and even between the old LTX M/S and the LTX M/S2.

If Michelin could just figure out how to keep the new rubber compound from cracking due to age/heat/UV exposure, the LTX M/S2 would be fantastic. As of now, it drives and handles better than the LTX M/S did, but I have had several sets of the LTX M/S and they never cracked or had the problems the LTX M/S2 and other newer Michelins do. Seems to be a tradeoff for the slightly higher treadwear and better braking and higher UTQG ratings, the material develops cracks after a certain amount of use or exposure to the elements.

Still a great choice, though. I suspect you'll be well pleased over the next 70,000-100,000miles or however long you can get them to go for.

Aired them down to 40psi. REAL heavy rain here in Dallas today but I had to be out and about. Handled very well in extreme wet. Went through a few unavoidable 4"-6" extended puddles (pavement only) but handled real well, no sensation of contact loss. Very pleased so far. Will keep an eye on them for cracks and chunking as we are heading into the Texas summer soon (I guess..) and we get heat and ozone.
