Assuming you keep up with scheduled maintainance, how many miles do you plan to get out of your X before it dies (meaning its not longer worthwhile to fix).

I have 123k on mine, I'm hoping for 160k without major issue.

I'm at 204k with no major issues :)
(Knock on wood....)

already over 180 in both of mine! hoping for 250

I've got 198k on mine with no major issues. Hoping to get at least 250k.:D

sitting at 155,000, no major problems so far, but, I don't know, she's in great shape, so I can't even think of at what point I would put her down...

168k

i'm the original owner of a 97 XLT SOHC, 168K. No major issues, just the expected usual repairs. The truck remains tight with little or no interior creaks. The motor has slightly less power but what a great motor overall. I'd really hate to depart with it and expect to go 250K and hope for 300K so long as it hold up as well as it has to this point. I don't think owners of other brands of trucks can make the same statement. I also think the later years of the 2nd gen Explorers were the top of the class.

i bought my original x with 145 on the clock already. rolled the odo over, and put another 100 on it before i broke her. and by no means was i careful. i beat that truck like it owed me money......so 245 easy with major abuse.

nice!

thanks for the replies. i've done all the double-digit repairs since i've bought the truck about 400 miles ago and am now looking at triple digits repairs and just need some reassurance that i'll get my my $$$ worth. i shouldnt say repairs, more like normal maintainance that the last owner let slide. shocks and tires are next on my list. possible clunk from a bad sway bar bushing too. Monte

oh, and i still want to put a new drivetrain in her.....

mine has about 192,000 miles (309,000 km). there's a few leaks her and there but it's still running strong without any problems which is pretty good considering it's been moving a family of 5 for over 10 years.

186k miles and no issues

1995 Eddie Bauer 4X4. 186k miles and no issues.

Tranny rebuild at 172k for ~ $2200, oil changes (done myself) every 3k since purchased vehicle @ 32k miles. 4 shocks and ball joint replacement @ 160k. Orig. cooling system (except repl top hose and t-stat). Never touched A/C and it's cold as ice. Polish/Wax/Detail myself twice/yr.

Running smooth and very reliable. Excellent purchase. Never regretted it. Expecting 250k ++ miles
