Would putting a mini spool in a daily driver/weekend trial rig be recomended?

a spool or mini spool is not a good idea for a daily driver. in wet conditions you could loose control of the rear around turns unexpectedly and wear the crap of your tires on dry pavement. This is because the diff can no longer have the rear tires move at different speeds and this is needed when making turns. with a spool bth rear axles are locked together and the inside tire can no longer move slower than the outside and it will start to skip around corners.

instead i would recommending either rebulding the current trac lock with 03/04 mustang cobra rear carbon fiber clutch packs or investing in a quality differential such as an eaton. you can even repack the current diff with more disks than from the factory. currently the diff has 6 friction packs(3 per side) you can get 2 clutch overhaul kits and put 5 per side for a total of ten. shim it tight and you have a diff with a high break away torque that will hold strong when in the mud.
