I have a couple things that have bugged me for a while now that I can't seem to solve. I'm looking for any suggestions at all that will help!
1) Loud, high pitched chirp going over bumps. At first I assumed sway bar bushings but it turned out not to be them. Then I went wild with a can of silicone lube and doused every rubber bushing on the whole rig, with no success. Then I wised up and localized the chirp the RR corner's suspension. It's definitely coming from there. The struts and springs are only 2 years old and aren't rusted, and again I think I've doused each bushing back there in silicone unless I missed one. What else could be making the chirp? It seems like it's probably metal on metal. I counted six body to frame bushings, 2 per control arm, and I also got the frame mounts on either diff.
2) Lift gate closes loosely. The hatch closes solid but it crashes/rattles when going over big bumps. I have a quick fix in place that seems to work well, electrical tape around the striker. This won't last more than a few open/closes before the tape gets marred away. Is there any way to adjust the lift gate latch or should I maybe replace the striker..?
3) Occassional loud click from the engine/tranny. Seems to be fairly random but it perhaps happens more often when the engine is cold and/or in between low speed shifts. The noise is a click similar to an a/c clutch, but I have been leaving the hvac off lately. It doesn't happen under hard acceleration and happens at idle before driving on cold starts. I do have about 400 miles on a reman tranny (which is great so far) but I've never heard of a sound like this being associated with a transmission. I'm stumped on this one.
