Are Ranger mirrors the same as Explorer mirrors. I would like to get some Cal-Vu Sport mirrors but they only list them for Rangers.

Bill, I was thinking the same thing! I have looked and I am pretty sure thay are. You can find mirrors for the Ranger but the shop said it would not fit an Explorer. I think I am going to get a set of the Indglo signal mirrors, I was kicking arroung Carbon Fiber but I don't have anyother C-F so I am not sure yet. I think the mirrors painted body color look good. And since the stock mirrors are biger than a Mac truck I think the look is so much cleaner.

On side note, are you anywhere near Sarasota?

I looked at those mirrors too but I couldn't find any power ones.

Sarasota is about an hour & 15 to an hour & 30 North of me.

you know what mirrors id like, the kind like the Jettas. i like how it has the blue tint on the glass. just my opinion. i also had this idea but it seems highly unlikely that its possible.....i have a 2001 sport and it has the puddle lamps that go on when the doors are open, is there any way to wire it so that when i put my signal on, that same side puddle lamp blinks with the blinker?

offtopic: naplesbill , i love your sport, its the nicest ive seen. one quick question, how did you lower it so much? i think ive seen the famous "gusto" thread but i just want to know bascially what you did TT, blocks, etc. thanks!

Originally I lowered it 2" front and rear. I use 2" blocks in back and removed the torsion adjusters in the front. The ubolts that come in most kits are too small for the Explorer's axle. Some people have forced them on but I didn't feel comfortable doing that. So, I found some ubolts that fit around the axle but were 9/16ths diameter. I had to drill out the shock plates with a 5/8ths steel bit(much easier than you might think).

While this made difference in the stance, it wasn't enough. So I put 3" blocks in the rear and did what's been called the torsion adjuster flip. Without going into to much detail, it involves flipping a piece around so that you can get the extra inches in the front. If you read through the "going for the gusto" thread it is covered in detail there. This procedure only takes about an hour.

I really appreciate the compliments on my truck. It is still a work in progress but it's coming along nicely.

just out of curiosity where did you get the block kits... and damn dude can you do some stuff for me haha just kidding but seriously where did you get the stuff to drop it i have an 02 and they make not one thing for it... and its making me extreamly mad. so if you could help... thanks... ohh yea i forgot how did you drop the front incase you didnt already say

You can get the blocks at any auto parts store. I bought mine from Discount Auto. As I said you will have to either force the ubolts from the block kit or buy the 10 & 3/8 by 9/16ths and drill the shock plate holes larger with a 5/8ths steel bit. I originally put 2" blocks in but replaced those with 3".

In the front I removed the torsion bolts(in the center of truck). The additional drop was done by doing the torsion adjuster flip. This is all explained in the "going for the gusto" thread. It is much easier than it sounds and the only thing you probably don't already have is a 2-arm puller. I had to put the adjuster bolts back in to make both sides of the front end sit level.
