I got a problem with my 02 V8 explorer. Car always starts just fine when cold but will frequently die or cough when started hot. Also misses under load (e.g. going up a hill). Took it to Ford dealer and they said it was dirty injectors but that didn't fix problem. Any ideas? Is this one problem of two? Thanks

Try a set of new plugs (Autolite) and wires. Misses under load can be caused by worn ignition components lots of the time.

Otherwise, some places have injector flush machines like one called MotorVac that can clean plugged injectors. It's cheaper to try that first before replacing injectors, but the success rate is about 50% from our experience with it.

A couple final thoughts...
Try a new fuel filter too, and also clean the MAF sensor. Both can contribute to symptoms such as you mentioned.

Would a dirty MAF sensor possibly be the cause of me having problems when the car has been driving for over 30 minutes and im trying to stomp the peddle down. I get a miss-firing and bad bucking after 4k rpms.

Clogged Cat? look for "Fluffy"

Im trying as hard as i can to fix the problem myself..i hate taking it to dealers or places like Pep boys cause i always get different answers and lots of bills. The wires are 20k miles old and plugs are new. Wires were prob a cheap set put on by pep boys. Tried a new coil pack but nothing. Was gonna put a Accel coil pack on, ngk plugs, and either universal accel wires or Taylor
