I tried to find info by searching and couldn't find anything. My question is, is it possible to use a 5.5" soa lift plus a 4" lift? Just trying to find some option. Thanx, Andrew

You mean mixing to get 9.5" of lift?

Not sure... I suppose you could get 4" lift leaf springs and then SOA it for more lift. Then find some coils longer than the 5.5" lift ones to match... Longer shocks and whatever else would be needed...

You mean 9" of total coil on the TTB up front? No way thats gonna work, not without heavily modified steering and cut and turned TTB beams.

PLease explain a few more details because you could be talking about a 5.5 Superlift with a 4" BL (BL =- bad idea IMO, especially 4")

I was thinking of 9" of suspension lift. I was just curiouse to see if it's possible without alot of headache. Thanks Again, Andrew

front is iffy.... 9"? you'll probably need to convert to straight axle up front. Tricky part here is that you'd need 9" longer axle brackets and special brackets or completely new control arms... steering - pitman arm... I mean that's probably possible but I would not drive it myslef for sure.

i dont think 9" of lift is possible without a lot of headache... the easiest if really wanting that much lift is a ford 9" rear end with soa and lift sprigs, and a solid axle front end.....

what tire size do you intend to run? thats quite a bit of lift!

I was thinking of 35"s. I want all suspension, unless I do a V8 swap. I'm just toying with ideas right now. Would a SOA and 2" shackles/spacers be more realistic? Thanks, Andrew

Check out some of the trucks on this board. Some of them have 35" tires installed and them guys didn't have to go to extremes to lift their trucks. In my opinion 6" lift should be enough... with a little bit of trimming up front.

like said.... IMHO

yeah, 9" is not needed for 35s
some have even run 35s with a 4" lift and trimming

I will be running 35" tires with a 5.5" suspension lift and fiberglass fenders. The trick is how wide do you want to go with tire/wheel combo? Here are your options for 35" tires:
5.5or 6" suspension with fiberglass fenders.

5.5" suspension with trimmed fenders but only with an 8" wide wheel and 12.5" (max) tire.

5.5" suspension and 2" body lift and not have to worry about the fenders.

You will need at least a 2" body lift to aid with the v8 swap. And as always, anything is possible; except 9" of lift with the TTB.;)

um..............I got prolly around 10" of susp lift with 35s and still need to trim with stock fenders. It is all in the width of the tires and the backspacing on the wheels. And the comment about 4" with some trimming, forget it.............major trimming is more like it. To put it in perspective, you would need around 5" of total lift to clear 33x12.5s with a little trimming. To do the same with 35s in the front, add 3-4".

Robb

Robb, douce92x had a 1st gen ('92) exploder. We don't need as much lift with the TTB. Very good point about backspacing though.
BTW, great looking X! I have been following yours, thinking of SAS on mine also.
