I say we bombard the magazines with letters about equal coverage for explorers and explorer events. They cover Jeep crap and now toyota and zuki events, I remember seeing coverage on a group of 4x4 vans. Tell the after market that 4 wheeling isn't just for jeeps.
The lack of media coverage has to be a Jeeper conspiracy. They don't want to let the word get out about how good our Explorers really are offroad. They would rather see the old Explorers all get crushed so the only SUVs left on the trail are Cherokee unibodies
I'm not going to disagree with you (but maybe be the devil's advocate on this), It's painfully obvious that this is clearly drawn by economics. Sure the Ex has been the top seller since '91, but Off Road mags, shows and events draw on the disproportionate ratio of Jeep owners to those that wheel v. Explorer owners to those that wheel. This is not even mentioning the substantial history that Jeep has in (defining) the sport of off-roading. How to fix the coverage issue; I say get more explorers to wheel, start local wheeling chapters that cater to Ex owners and get the news out all the while!
Well, sadly I am not going to bail out of this run just yet (because pride and tears won't let me yet ) Not only are fuel costs becoming a major budgeting concern... but 4 weeks ago my mother-in-law moved in with us for the next couple months till she can get squared away and relocate down here :fire::frustrate and it has been a significant strain.

thinking about goin up on thursday and coming home on sunday. what days will have the better runs? friday or sunday? just tryin to figure out which days to stay would be best (thurs-sun or fri-mon)
got our reservations, thursday, friday, and saturday night. but if anyone has a cabin and they find out they can't go, we'll gladly take care of it for you
Thanks for the comments. I'm not bailing out yet, I just need to heavily plan and canx a few of the wheeling trips I have planned. Yesterday, I miscalculated my figures (overestimated) of how much it will cost so I may be in better shape than I thought.
In 6 years of wheeling some explorerforum runs I haven't backed out of one that I said I would go to, so I'm trying to keep that up
Becker you live too close, to be able to bail cause of gas prices. :Try driving 1300 miles each way.
I am spending a fortune on gas right now racing in the Texas mountain bike series almost every weekend. Filling up 3-5 times on the weekend to get to a race and back home is sucking. Glad I only have 2 races left.
