Every product has a life cycle and the engineers that built it did their homework and can predict very well when and how it will begin to wear out.
yes, im aware that the life of a part can be calculated fairly accurately (im an engineer myself, and im aware of the different failure mechanics and how to calculate them.) the point i was trying to make is that, many people think theres this conspiracy that when you buy a car with a 75k warranty, every part in the vehicle is designed to break at 76k, thats just not true. now, im not saying they design these things to go a million miles without any problems, though, some vehicles do; but they dont deisgn them to break at the end of the warranty period just so you have to go buy a new one. however, because youre in the business of testing that stuff, you would probably have a better idea than me, and i have been known to be wrong before
