Moisture getting into headlights is a common problem addressed in a service bulletin for my vehicle ('03 XLT). I notice that there doesn't seem to be a consistant bead of "caulk" in the seam that separates the clear front lens from its reflective backing.

Would silicone adhesive be a good choice to seal this up? And do I go all the way around the lamp and seal it completely, or is it important to let it breathe a little by leaving a small opening?

Most headlights usually have a "breather" and yes it is important to have those. Heat with bulbs (especially head lamps) can cause a lot of problems. I would recommend some clear silicone RTV gasket maker - I used some on my rear differential cover since it's clear as well. Look for the breather, if you don't see one then leave a little spot for it to breathe. Good luck
