Spindle - It could happen but that's not my goal.

I'm not willing to spend the money it takes to make an X go that fast and wouldn't want to. But, it could happen.

Yes - It takes more work to make an X go as fast as a lighter car. We all should no that.

You're giving me a lot of fuel to take you down. Keep it up!

And it has happend, but not on N/A fully streetable EXs.
You have a goal, do it. :D

Why go through all the hassle for what amounts to roughly a zero gain? You can easily get more than a 4 hp swing on back to back dyno runs.

If your talking N/A then no. It's not going to happen. I agree with you on that but that's about it.

Please proove to me, and everyone else, that this is a zero gain.

You said it yourself...about 4 hp for a 100 amp alternator. A 4 hp shift is effectively negligible gain. On the dyno, both my Mach and my '66 would show more than a 4 hp swing on back to back runs. You will get a lot more bang for your buck by putting effort into other parasitic drag devices, like going to an electric water pump over a mechanical pump. I've got one of those on the Mach, and they have show to increase hp (Dyno proven) on the 32V 4.6 between 11 and 17 hp, as well as having the benefit of better cooling at idle. Another choice would be to go to an aluminum flywheel (if you have a manual tranny). Less rotating mass=more hp freed up to the rear wheels. On my Mach, we added an Electric water pump, a C&L CAI, an intake spacer, a Borla cat back exhaust, an aluminum flywheel, and a custom tune. That combo gained over 30 hp and over 40 ft-lb torque. The intake spacer and aluminum flywheel added nothing to the top end #'s, but significantly increased midrange torque.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is;

4 HP (If that was the gain) is nothing. I agree. But, 4HP here, 2HR there, 3HP overthere, 5HP somewhere else,...ect ADDS UP. And I'm not afraid to get grease on my hands to acclomplish these "little" things. On the other hand, I don't like wasting my time either.

Look at like this.

You spend $277.00 for a Volant Intake and gain, lets say 10 HP.
That equals: $27.7 Per HP.

OR

You spend $228.00 for a K&N and gain 10 HP.
That equals: $22.8 Per HP.

You spend (Let's go high) $100.00 for 4 HP.
That equals: $25.00 Per HP.

In reality, you'd spend around an average of $60.00 for the switch and lets say you only gain 3HP.
That equals: $20.00 Per HP.

Also, you may have spare parts laying around like me and don't spend anything.

This is what you need to make 45 more RWHP jakee.
SCT Flasher 360 bux (with The proper tune of course)
Ported TB, 180 bux
Larger Maf housing, couple hun
Mac intake or something similar 160 bux
Flex-a-lite 180, 150 will work also, say 240 bux.
A well thought out exhaust system, 300 bux.
offroad Y-pipe 300 bucks
UD pully 280 bux
New serp belt, 35 bux.
Tranny flush replaced with all syn fluid, syn in the engine, syn in the diffy.
Baseline Dyno (just for grins) so one knows what one has actually done.85 bux
do all the boltons, order your SCT Flasher, tell the tuner you want your A/F right around 12.7.
get thee back to the Dyno, 85 bux plus have the A/F done, nother 40 bux.
Than start tweekin things, have fun.
The above costs ballpark: $2265.00
= 50 bux per pony, was it worth it? you bet your sweet ass it was.

What he said...I've been through the same thing with both my Mach and my '66.

Hey Spindlecone...shame you're not closer...I'd like to run your Rausch with My Mach...would be an interesting race :D

Last dyno run was on a fouled set of plugs (didn't find out until afterwards) and I put down 303 hp and 330 ft-lb torque corrected. After talking to the dyno operator later, he estimates that I should be about 10-15 hp/tq higher on good plugs.

Those are killer numbers, would be an interesting contest :D
But first I need to learn how to drive this car.
have had cars with more H.P and TQ, but the suspension is ubber spooky, super responsive.
I push this puppy it actually scares me, first thought that comes to my mind is: knock it off, THIS CAR CAN KILL YOU.
than i need to drive the trac for a couple hrs to come down.

The Mach is similar when you first drive it...Scary fast for the #'s because of how well it puts the power down. Scary because it handles so well that you don't really realize how close to the edge you are before it reaches out and bites. I took Blee99 for a ride and twitched the rear out as I hit 3rd in a curve on the road....at 80 mph... It's amazing how this car has enough power to break a set of 275-35ZR18's free going into 3rd gear. I can't put more than 3/4 throttle down in 1st gear or the tires go up in smoke. 2nd gear leaves 20' of rubber behind, and 3rd can leave about 10' of rubber. 0-60 stock (269 rwhp) was about 4.9 seconds..

This car can also kill you in a big hurry if you don't respect it. I've driven cars (Vettes, Mustangs, a 911 turbo and a Maserati Biturbo) with much higher hp/torque, but NOTHING that puts it down so well to the road.

I don't know how your Rausch brakes, but the brakes on the Mach are PHENOMENAL. This thing absolutely pins you to the seatbelt under heavy deceleration.

14 inch, 4 cylinder brembos on the front, they work big time.
Installing a raptor shift light in the morn, with the alum flywheel, I hit the rev limiter in about two secs at WOT, My tires will not last long.

nobody with any chance of running 12s in their explorer is worried about 4 hp here and 2 hp there...

look at troll, look at any fast street vehicle- the guys who really do it dont' have to worry about junk like this.

Okay - Well I guess I'm different. It seems stupid for me not to take advantage of these sort of things.

Yes - I've seen trolls video. Super fast. I also saw where he said it would take 30K to reproduce. For me? I'll take advantage of what I can until I hit the lotto or something. If I went out spending that sort of cash on my X I'd be divorced in 6.12 sec. And I'm not trying to improve that time.

Spindle - I appreciate the advice but don't use this as an excuse when I take your tracs numbers out. J/K - I see what your saying. You have bigger and better fish to fry with the other ride. I'm just a squirrel trying to get a nut.

You no what would suck for you? Getting beat by a 4.0 SOHC with "Junk" mods. Don't take offense to this. No pun attended.
