2016 explorer XLT
So after searching for awhile and taking things apart and putting them back together I am 100% stumped. 2016 explorer XLT loaded, purchased 2 weeks ago, sunroof didn't work at all when I picked it up. Performed the "relearn" got the shade to work and the mooroof to tilt, it was stuck like that for awhile before I finally got it to close. Swapped out the drivers side motor, before reinstalling the motor I plugged it in and tested it. When I tested it, it would make a very, very short turn and stop and I had to keep pushing the tilt motor for it to shut but instead of shutting it titled all the way up. Took that motor out replaced it with a new one, same thing but this time it would tilt when I hit slide and I would have to keep pushing the tilt button for it to shut. So I replaced the switch, switch didn't do anything at all. So I adjusted the rear moonroof thinking maybe it's hitting that and won't go back. Still won't slide open. Now the only thing thats left is the gear rod or whatever it is that the motors turn on to open and shut the moonroof or there is some wiring issues. Talked to 3 different ford garages and they told me I was SOL and couldn't get it in for almost a month for all 3. So, what would you guys do next. I did hook up a solus pro scanner but couldn't figure out how to do a self test cause I'm kinda stupid, I had forscan hooked up as well and that didn't give me any direction to go. I am completely lost at this point.

Edit: so being new to this forum, I don't know how to delete a thread, but I have fixed this issue... so, what I did was turn ignition on, turn it off, push slide button, release slide button, hold slide button, it slid all the way then turn ignition off, turn back on, pull slide, release slide hold slide then it closed but titled upon closing. So thats where I am at now. So I have to sit and f*** with the tilt button until it shuts evenly. So not 100% fixed but fixed enough for now.

Welcome to the Forum.
The shade and glass panels use the same type of motors. You could have swapped them for testing purposes.
