So I've finally decided to regear and lock my explorer. With the large amount of city driving and lack of hardcore off roading that I do I decided to go with some 4.56's and a Detroit EZ-Locker.
I found a set of front and rear gears for a total of $250 from a guy over on the Midwest site and I found the EZ-Locker for $240+ship at www.nationaldrivetrain.com. I'm assuming these prices are ok since I haven't found anything cheaper. I still have a few questions though.
Is my 3.73 open carrier going to work for the 4.56's and the EZ-locker? I know that on my Jeep the carrier thickness had to do with the gear ratio...I was just wondering if the X is the same.
Also, I was wondering if there is any difference between the Detroit EZ-locker and the Powertrax Lock-Rite? I've busted two of the Lock-Rite's in my Jeep and I just wanted to try something different in the X.
Is there anything I'm overlooking besides the two questions stated above?
