Does anyone know how to get more power from the small V6 that was put in the 1996 Explorer. I have a K&N air filter and exaust system installed.

I would like another 100 HP if possible. I can not find any tubos or blowers for this motor.

Welcome!

Another 100 crank or wheel hp? To get that much of either you'll need nitrous or an s/c. A few have custom turbo kits, but a Paxton/Vortech kit is much cheaper and easier. I believe that's the only kit you can still get new. I had the BBK roots type kit on mine and almost doubled the crank hp before nitrous.

BTW, if you use the search feature you'll probably find all the info you'll ever need.

Oh, and the 4.0 V6 is a huge V6, not small by any means.

The 4.0 OHV is a large V6 in terms of displacement, but it's size is pretty compact for a V6. The SOHC has the exact same displacement, but a larger physical size.
