motor swap from 4.0 to 5.0 is it possible

i am new to the site but im curious if it is possible to do a motor upgrade from a 4.0 to a 302 carburated with the stock drivetrain. the drivetrain is all stock with an automatic. please reply back

No the 4.0 transmission is not compatible with the 5.0. The swap has been done several times. Do a search and you will find all the info you need. There is no need explaining it all out again here.

very possible but yes need both engine and trans 4.0 trans will not fit 5.0 engine

you will need a transmission (and t-case if its 4x4) to match the 5.0, such as an AOD or T-5 etc. you will need custom length driveshafts. you will need to fabricate custom engine mounts and transmission mounts, chances are you will need to do some fab work and clearancing as well. it's definitely not a job for a novice. i'm sure other people have done it though, do some searching to find out how they did it if you're interested. remember a ranger swap would be the same.
