'92 xlt
I just got a '92 xlt, it's got the 4.0l and i was curious if it was possible to drop a 5.0l in it pretty easily, or if i would just be better off modding the 4.0l.
I'm planning on turning it into a street truck, with a 3" drop, 17" wheels, and a fairly good system, just want a little more power than stock.

A 5.0L conversion can be done many different ways.
This is a complete drivetrain conversion, not just the engine.

If you search around you will find many 5.0L and other engine conversions on this forum
It is up to you to decide if you want to commit to a V8 or squeeze what you can from the 4.0L. Weigh the benefits vs cost, etc.
It is not for everyone, but it done into Rangers and Explorer's every day.

Try the search feature!

Welcome.

Jesus man! Do a search... There is about 9 billion other threads from newbs such as yourself asking the same questions... Don't be like them, use the search button, save us all another pointless thread. No BS I am pretty sure I see a new version of this exact type of thread on this site every week at least. I would imagine that since there are literally hundred of versions of this same exact thread on this site that there will be good info to gather from them. Chances are, if you have a question about anything on your Explorer it is covered in detail in here already.

BTW...Wrong forum for this thread. You may want to read the directions at the top of the main page so as to avoid any further problems.
