Mountaineer radio volume problem

Hi,

We own a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer. When we try to adjust the volume on the radio it becomes extremely loud. Seems the volume cannot be adjusted unless we use the steering wheel radio control button. Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix for this?

Thanks for adding that link. I'm having a similar issue but don't have the steering wheel controls.

I think I'll try the spray fix first.
