Muddy Coolant

I posted a few days ago about a oil pressure guage problem i was having, I went outside today to double and triple check everything. So i might be able to fix it by the weekend. Oil level, fine. maybe 1/4in low on dipstick. Power steering level, empty. (I believe it was trans fluid in there from the previous owner) I popped the coolant cap, MUD. Thin mud but more that than the yellow/green liquid normally in there. all inside. outside of motror was dry, nothing under the vehicle, at least nothing new. The coolant had supposedly been flushed a few weeks ago and heater core replaced. I've been wondering lately actually if anything was done at all. I went to start the truck to check the transfluid (auto) but stopped just in case. Anyone have any idea? I have to get this fixed asap, I'd like to do it myself. Thanks!

I had an old ranger that had what looked like mud in the antifreeze. It turned out to be a cracked head. Over time, See if you can rent or borrow a coolant system pressure tester. However, if you notice your coolant level in the overflow bottle dropping, this would indicate the same thing.

Someone may also have put in some of that stop-leak crap.

Anti-freeze does that over time. Time to change it.

It sounds like they didn't flush anything. There is no way that brand new green coolant can turn brown that fast.

Hopefully I don't have to show him my tires too (up close).
