Im gonna be gettin the flowmaster 40 series muffler really soon and i wanted to know a few things....im planning on getting larger pipes like 2.5 but i wanted to know if i have to have the pipes bent or is there a way to have them straight out the back...i read somewhere that i will need an adapter?...what is this and where do i get it?

Also..i was looking uder my truck and saw the muffler then towards the back i saw another thing that looked like there was another smaller muffler type thing...what the hell is that...and if i make custom pipes do i need that?

Thanx

i think the other canaster u seen might have been the cataltic(sp?) converter ........ which is part of emissions and yes u will need that if u go with new pipes

PEACE

If that is the cat then what is the little canaster thats near the front of the truck?

technically you don't need the cat, but it's always a nice thing to leave on.

yes plus i think that if u get pulled over and they find u dotn have it they give u a ticket plus if u have emissions testing i dont think u will pass

ill pass emmissions whatever i do to the truck cause my uncle does my inspections so im not worried about it except throwing fumes in the air which i dont really wanna do BUT what is the little canaster in the front of the truck if the one after the muffler is the cat?

OHHHHHHHHH

ok i think the one INFRONT of the muffler is the Cat but im not sure wut the one behind the muffler is ??? maybe a second cat srry im not sure

PEACE

srry didnt mean to misinform u

Your cats will be infront of your muffler. If there is a small looking muffler after the large muffler, that is just a resonator to take out bad tones. Thats not something you need to have for emissions.

I see you're from Hopewell Jct. I'm from Pleasant Valley. Nice to see someone somewhat close by on the board.

A 2.5" tailpipe may be a bit too large for your truck and may bring out an undesirable tone in the exhaust note.

I recommend a 2.25" tailpipe routed through the stock location. And I usually recommend Magnaflow mufflers. You can get rid of the stock resonator without worrying about it. I actually got 2 aftermarket resonators installed in my setup now, but that's because I have a very large free-flowing exhaust. Stick with a 2.25" tailpipe and you'll be fine.

Ok sounds good thanx for the help....yea 98FordX24 nice to see someone else around the area...how old r u?..im 20...ok later guys

I agree with Alec. I got a Delta 40 two weeks ago with 2.25" pipe and I really like it. It isn't loud and annoying at all. But stick with 2.25" pipe and not 2.5". I can notice a loss of bottom end even with 2.25" so with 2.5" it would be pretty bad.
