Multiple Warning Lights

Hey gang,

A few months ago after leaving a restaurant my 09 Explorer wouldn't start. I would turn the key and the radio/ AC would come on but nothing else. Tried to jump it to no avail. I had it towed to my local shop. After going through it they thought it may have been hit by lightning. They replaced the ECM, instrument cluster, and alternator. After all that they finally got it running but there are a ton of warning lights on now, including ABS, RSC, Parking Break, Check Engine. Along with no headlights working (or high beams), no turn signals work either. I do get the warning messages to check all the aforementioned lights. Also, they had to leave the ABS unplugged so it would let me drive.

Any ideas? Does my explorer have a Lamp Out Module?

They need to program the new ECM to you particular vehicle and VIN. I am not an expert on that but I believe all modules need to be able to communicate between each other and it looks like they are not.

If your Car was struck by lightning, you would absolutely know it. There would be massive black burns, and likely large holes in the sheet metal. Such an event would probably total the vehicle as it would basically require replacing the entire electrical system of the vehicle. I don't know what your original issue was, but I feel the need to ask if you have an aftermarket autostart installed?

Currently it sounds like the new PCM has not been programmed to talk to the other modules.

Lightning doesn't always leave scorch marks or holes.

It wouldn't even have to directly strike a vehicle to toast (pun intended) sensitive electronics.

I was sitting in a a parked F series, lightning struck a tree, then another car parked about 20 feet from the truck I was in.

Still ruined the EEC and stereo of the truck I was in. As far the owner of the truck and myself could ever tell, the lightning never hit the truck we were in.

Lightning does crazy stuff. Had a couple dangerous experiences, it's not something I want to be close to, for the most part.
