my 1997 4.o s0hc won't idle

My 1997 ford explorer 4.0 sohc won't idle as long as I keep my foot on the gas it idles but the moment I let off it dies IAC?? Any other suggestions???

And yes I have searched but only found the iac cleaning tried that but still no idle bad Iac???

Sounds very typical of a bad IAC. Ceaning often helps but it could be a bad IAC. You can check for continuity through the coil, check for voltage to the IAC, remove it and connect to 12v and see if the plunger is moving...or you could just replace it.

+1 on IAC. I cleaned mine, but it didn't help. Certainly try this first though.
