Well, my first (hopefully last) whoops is pretty lame. I wasn't doing anything cool, just my X with bald tires couldn't handle the snow. I slid sideways into a curb and caused damage to:
-2 rims
-1 tire
-tie rods
-knuckle
-alignment
-who knows what else

He's in the shop right now, so I'll find out soon if there is any more damage. :D I can't believe a 5mph slide into a curb could cause $1887 in damage!

So, I get some suspension work done on my X, and best of all.....New set of BFG ATs! :D :D :D

Yepp, I was only going like 5mph...okay maybe 8 ;) I blame the cold weather and snow, it obviously wasn't any error on MY part. My deductable is only $200, and I'm getting a lot of new stuff out of it that I needed anyways. So it's not all that bad...except I'm without my X for a few days :(

get 31's!!!

$1900?! I didn't pay that much for the whole bottom of my truck!

I say, get the insurance money and have CRANK fix it for you.

$1,887 dollars!!! Shoot Gina, and I thought $680 was a lot in repairs for losing my rear wheel going 65 MPH. I guess messing up the front costs a little more to fix than the rear. :(

Please tell me that was a estimate at a dealership? Reason I ask is because most collision shops can beat that price and use OEM equipment.

The estimate was at just a body shop, but I made sure they did it with all Ford parts. I'm still waiting for a call saying they found too much damage in the 4x4 and have to total it. I think I could find a 2nd gen for $4000 :D Oh, and I'm just getting 30's...my Dad said I had to keep the stock size tires  but he is paying for them, so I can't complain. Yes, 30's are stock shhhh

Unexpected expenses in regards to our toys, although it sucks,is almost inevitable.I doubt that it will make you feel any better, but I think we've all been there. In fact, I hydrolocked mine last summer and bent two connecting rods slightly.Instead of fixing it immediately,I continued to run it as it was and the domino effect took over...destroying more internal parts than I care to mention.I had it torn right down to the block, punched .030 over ,and put together with ALL new parts.Grand total...$2690. Not a cheap mistake!

I've smacked a curb at 15mph before and was on someones front lawn in a snow storm once....I drove off their lawn and talked to them and gave them my phone # incase any damage had happened and to call me when the snow melted...

I simply drove home with just a minorly bent rim....this was with my MUSTANG...

with the explorer I've had someone pull out of parking lot not paying attention and slam into my front right wheel at about 10mph with a car...all I need was a new control arm, alighnment and new tire (sliced sidewall) (and minor body work)

you HAD to of been hauling ass to need a new knuckle and tie rods!!!

why is labor 400+?

they are charging you 87$? for an alighnment?! it should only be 50 MAX

Sounds like the company is taking insurance for as much as they can....

i slid my moms 01 GV over a curb completely sideways nad backwards going probably 25-30 and all it did was break a seal in the rear axel after 10k miles =)

oh and dent one of the stocker rims lol all but the rim was replaced under warrenty =)

atleast ur first oops wassent a roll over gina and everyone was alright =)

that really sucks Gina, good thing you were going slow!

:(
