Hello
New member today from Canada.
I have a 2003 Sport Trac with 130,000 km.
did not have any issues with the truck until last week,
battery and alternator required replacement, barely made it home. was hesitating the last mile.
Now I have a check engine light. any recommendations.

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer and see if it comes back on again after that. If it does get a code scanner, I got one for $59 at a parts store.

check engine scanner

Disconnect the battery and that cleared the check engine for a while. nex time I started the truck up, the light returned, seems to run rough on idle nowl. what brand / type scanner should I be looking for?

welcome

Any ODB2 scanner will work. I think the one I have is an Actron.

thanks for the advice.

I was looking thru the forum and found a fix for the rough idle.
seems to be a vacuum hose elbow, see post excerpt from

Clean the Idle Air Control valve.
Check the vacuum elbow on the passenger side
of the engine for a crack.
Both are common problems that will cause a rough idle.

I just changed the vacuum elbow and smoothed my vehicle out.

thanks again, I will be getting an obd reader, probably from ebay..

Yeah I had to change that vaccum hose also, my trac came with rough idle when I got it.
