My 2013 Limited has a build and delievery estimate

Spoke to my dealer yesterday, looks like my Limited is going to be built the last week of February and due for delivery the first week of March. Getting nervous to meet her for the first time.

Wow, I can't believe it's Feb 2012 and they're already building the 2013 Explorers? My 2012 was one of the first and was built at the end of Aug 2011. Was their something wrong with the 2012's? Man, I'm feeling cheated!

I'm not exactly sure what the deal is, but the dealer said it had something to do with the government and the factory in which the x is built. Made sense when he said it but now I forget exactly what it was.

I ordered my 2013 12/28, got word it was built on 1/17, and it's been awaiting the pleasure of a gov't inspector since... Sigh.. Wondering if I'll see her before March.

I don't know who is telling you that but there is no government inspection process between the build date and delivery to the customer.

When the new model year starts there are MP1 builds and MP2 builds then they have an "OK to Sell" meeting and agreement that the Management Prototypes are good and the Production Line can build units to sell to the public.

Yeah, to my knowledge, none of the 2013's were scheduled to be built before February.

Interesting... I ordered my 2013 XLT on January 9, 2012 and have not received any build info, VIN or even a confirmation. Spoke to my dealer today and they had no info for me.

Ordered my 2013 Limited on 28 Jan and have a delivery date of June 6th. I'm overseas...Does this gap seem out of the ordinary?

Wow, June 6th?! That seems crazy, but I'm waiting 6-ish weeks after my "it's built" date (1/17) until I get it, and I'm only 1500 miles from the factory...if you do the math (and this is just for fun, but...) that would be 196 days of delivery delay if you're 7000 miles from Chicago... that would be 6.5 months of delay... Wow, that made more sense than I thought it would.

On another note, I finally got my VIN..... anyone have a way to get a better delivery estimate than "sometime near the end of February"?
