Hi all:
I was out running some errands on Friday. My X had been running fine all day. After my last stop, I got in and tried to start it. It turned over, and would catch, but died right away. I was finally able to get it running by holding the gas pedal down a little. After 10 seconds of that, it would run, but the idle pulsated between 400 and 900 RPM, with it trying to die. I immediately checked for a loose vacuum hose or electrical connector, but didn't spot any. I drove it home, but I couldn't push the gas pedal much beyond 1/4 inch or so without it stalling. Also, the catalytic converters started stinking pretty badly.
This did not happen immediately after refueling, but the consensus among my car mechanic buddies is that I got some bad gas, and the fuel filter is clogged. I'm planning on replacing the filter tonight when I get home. What else might it be?
Thanks in advance,
John.
