Hello guys, this is my first post. I just bought an 06 XLT 4x4 last week. I am a little shocked that I just found this site after my 3rd Explorer. I have been a Jeep rock crawling guy for quite a few years and have had my 4x4 Explorers as my daily drivers. Tonight I sat down at the computer wondering if Ford guys have finatic forums like Jeep guys do and look what I found. You Ford guys seem to be as messed up as Jeep guys. I LOVE IT!! Wish I found this site a long time ago. Since this is my first post I figured I should probably make it legit with a tech question.
When I first purchased the Explorer I noticed a pinging/ticking noise coming from the tail pipe after I turned the vehicle off. It slowly decreases in sound and amount as the vehicle cools down. I had a Jeep a few years ago that did this same thing but much worse. I ended up having to swap out the cat converter. Is this pinging/ticking noise coming from the tail pipe usual for this year? My previous 2 Explorers never made this sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
