We have a 2013 LTD Explorer and since we got the vehicle at the start of September it has rebooted the navigation / my ford touch system 3 times. Is this a standard thing and should it be doing this?

Did you get the 3.5.1 update yet? Mine hasn't rebooted since the update.

Post/read the IVT forum which is for all MFT questions/information.

yes... since the latest (3.5.1?) update, my Ex has not had ANY hiccups with the MFT ... prior to that it was nearly daily that it would lock-up or black-screen.

Perhaps they've finally gotten to a stable (non-Beta) MFT system! :)

I don't think mine has locked up or rebooted for more than a year.

Where do I get the update from?
Do you have the factory installed voice activated navigation? If so you will need the A4 SD card as well. It is recommended that the dealer do the update. There is no charge for it. I believe that it will be available for downloading from www.syncmyride.com in January and the card can be mailed. Have you opened your account there?
My recommendation and Ford's is to have the dealer do it. The vehicle has to be running while the update is done and takes about 40 minutes or so to complete.
Check out the posts in http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=177

After the update is done, you will have to update your Sync account using the Vehicle Health Report or by using the Status Checker tool on syncmyride.
