my free engine and tranny

Hello all. I am going to receive an engine and tranny from a wrecked '99 Mercury Mountaineer and I'm wondering if it will fit into an Explorer. If it will what are the years that this engine and tranny will fit into? Know where any good bodies are? camacholugo2@hotmail.com

Welcome to this forum! Which engine & transmission are you referring to? There were several options.

Welcome to the forum.
I have been told 1997 - 2000 Explorer and Mountaineer parts are interchangeable with each other.
The best thing to do is call a local salvage yard and ask them... they will absolutely know.

It will fit in any 2nd gen explorer, but you will need the computer/wiring from the V8 to make it run.
