My *****in' Frankn Bumpers by RLC Welding!

I think there will be plenty of room to see the taillight.

I can put some tabs under the jerry can for a plate.

Jerry can should be on the level. Optical illusion?

The sample bumper has tabs to hold the jerry can with a strap. I can cut those off, but don't know what a standard locking strap is or how it would work...

unless you mean you'd wrap the whole thing with a strap.

No room for 4" lights in the center, as the receiver bar runs lengthwise behind the face of the bumper. The right end has all the latch and stop stuff on it.

I can cut some sort of smaller light holes in a variety of locations, but it may be best to have a light in mind.

I'll mark up the bumper with some suggestions/options on some of this stuff tomorrow.

Here's the strap I was thinking of. I think this will work well and keep the same cage look without the large tabs attached to the cage. (of course the photo doesn't show the cage but it shows where it would connect.) I can pick one up on Ebay. Also, I'm open to any ideas on the rear bumper..even large shackle tabs would work...just something to take up all of that space now. Thanks.

Only took this pic to show the clevis mount , latch and tab for lock on that side. Other side has only the clevis

Not sure if that pan on the jerry can hold down will fit in the cage? Or if the strap is even removable...or if the strap is removable inside the cage to allow for removal of the can.

I'd prefer to leave the tabs but will cut them off, no problem.

Jerry Mount: take tabs off and cut small place on the existing pan for straps to attach to. They're 1/16" thick so I don't think tolerance will be that tight. License plate tabs under mount.

The clevis on there now seemed to leave a big open space. If it were moved over to the left (more center) it would help take up that dead space. Rear bumper dead space: good size shackle mounts and call it a day?

Existing shackle mounts are welded front and rear very near the bumper mounts. The strongest location.

Holes or thin slots in the existing pan?

I have an idea to break up the dead space I'll show you later, but IMO the focus is going to be on the tire carrier and with the tire on there will overshadow the bumper.

Thin slot will do.

slots and holes for plate.

tabs have been removed.

Idea for breaking up the surface is to cut two longish slots that sort of mimic the front design. I could further back them up (front too for that matter) by tacking in some of the pictured small expanded metal.

Thanks,

Front too? Sweet! Can't wait to see it and receive it!

Great work James !!!

How much does the rear bumper weight?

I may be buying one from you for my lifted Sport Trac and don't wanna just put the "plastic" bumper cover and "plastic" reinforcement back on my truck. My truck was rearended last Friday and the onlt thing that saved my bed, frame, etc. was the class IV tow hitch and the 3/8" 4x6 angle iron I welded to the bodylift bumper brackets for my swing out tire carrier.

I already built my swing out tire carrier onto my body lift bumper brackets using 3/8" 4x6 angle iron for the spindle and latch mounting points.

I can post pictures of my carrier/ bumper setup and or send them to you and send you measurements since it's a ST and not an Explorer.

Do you have a photo album of all you front and rear bumpers that you've made so I can see what style to pick?

Sorry for all the questions, I really like your work and want to add some protection to the rear of my truck instead of putting "plastic" parts back on.

Here's a link to my swing out tire carrier build...

Are we going to get final installed pics too? (hint, hint...)

Oh ya! I'm in OK. so after I receive everything and paint..... I'll post the photos. What's a flat tough rhino bed like material?

Friend of mine suggested raptor or al's liner. Im cheap, rustoleum bedliner for my bumper. Just takes several coats for proper protection.

Update?

Herculiner. Get it at Ace, it'll be 75$ a gallon instead of 90+.

O.K., where's the updates and pictures?????? LOL

Pictures!!!!????

^^^ I'm with these guys, can we get some pics/updates? Please?

I just painted and installed my RLC rear bumper with tire carrier and dual can holder. It is amazing. After looking at this front set up i will probably be back for a front bumper from James! Amazing.
