I have a 94 4.0 with 235/75/15 Goodyear Wranglers at 32 psi,139,000.I just changed plugs and wires, put a KKM filter on it and a pretty quiet turbo muffler.Other then that, dead stock.

My 14 mpg city went up to 16.5 mpg city and I used to get 19.2 mpg highway before I did the changes.

Haven't been on a trip since to see any change in hwy mileage but you have something seriously wrong if you are getting 10 mpg.I do better then that on the 2000 with a 5.0 and AWD.:D

wait, I dont understand...you just put wires etc on it and you used to get 19.2 and no w you get 16.5?

can you reread your post and tell me if the wires helped or hurt or what

:)

14 city went to 16.5 city.19.2 hwy.I haven't been on a trip to see what my highway mileage is now.:D

I just drove to GA, two fill ups, avg 19.2 mpg at 80 mph a/c on etc, even with all the hills in GA. 5.0 2wd, exhaust intake, mobil 1

I went to the junk yard and got a throttle body off a 5.4L V8

I CAN drive 55

I was getting about the same mileage on my '98, i.e. 18 +/- hwy, cruise control on, at about 70 mph. Then I got pulled over for speeding and started slowing down. Doing anything over 60 provided the same mpg.

But, when I went even slower - down to 55 mph - I get between 23 - 26 mpg. I thought it was because the speed limit was still 55 when it was made and maybe the gear ratio, engine, blah, blah, blah, etc. was optimized for that speed????

Any thoughts??

(and, no, I don't get pulled over for going too slow...:D I just make sure I have plenty of time to get to where I'm going.)
