My NEW hood scoop/snorkle

The scoop came off this Z. Not this exact one. One from the wrecking yard.

Uhhh Ummmm...WTF!! :D

And I thought I had too much time on my hands... :p

WOW  I've never even though of a snorkle like that. I really hope your do a write up cause I would love to do this mod. Question though...I was looking at your pics...i'm curiuous why you put it on the drivers side though? Is that a modifed "stock"airbox? What a cool mod man! I think i need to do it ;) think it would look good herculined? hahaha

GREAT JOB!!!!
CP :D

I put the scoop on the driver's side because the scoop is driver's side specific. I could have done a lot of work to modify the scoop but I found it easier to just move the airbox. Also on my year I would have had to move the a/c condenser and power box to get the scoop far back enough. I also now have room for another battery in the old airbox location.
The airbox I used is from a GM with a 3.8. I walked around a pick-n-pull yard on a couple of different weekends and bought a couple of different boxes before I managed to make this one work. It's actually 1/4 of one airbox grafted to another whole airbox. Both the same 3.8 style.

What are you going to do come smog inspection time?

I've still got all my original intake stuff that would only take 1/2 hour to install. But I just smogged in Nov. so I've got two years til the next one.

Ok so when you gonna test it out and I'm not talking about on road!! Hollister is close!!!!

Mine was from a 300zx like that, though it wasn't quite as contoured to the hood as yours. Just so happens that's where my airbox is :D

So, did you have this idea before mine? Just asking. I think it's a great mod!

Gotta 'nuff lights on that thing Alec?

WoW! Alec I had no idea! Has your scoop been on the site before? I picked this scoop because it was junkyard-cheap. And it's the only scoop I could find that came off of the hood. You weren't kidding when you said it looked like yours.
Positive Vibes- Is your rig running? If this rain stops maybe, just maybe, we could try out Carnegie OHV on Sat.

Oh man that looks tough:eek: Does the pipe slide down inside the air box so the scoop sits on your hood? And how you are going to go about extending the wires for your MAS?

Hi

that is inspiration !
pleases me

many greetings from Germany Falk

I did it in October or November and have posted it many times.

Nah, I like it; that's all that matters.

zensius, sorry I can't make it this weekend. Want to shot for next weekend? And yes she is running! Still dickin with the brakes and ebrake cable.

I think Alec and I can peacefully co-exist. Until he comes to CA of course!:D

Positive vibes, I'll let you know about that as the date gets closer.

Here's a pic of the scoop aparatus out of the car. And yeah I just cut and extended the MAS wiring. I wasn't sure what to do with the vacuum lines that went to the air box so I just left them disconnected. It doesn't seem to affect anything. And the PCV hose is disconnected as well til I figure out what to do with it.

Hopefully there's no problem with the extension of the MAS lines. Even a tiny change in the resistance of their circuit could throw a CEL or something.

if you are gonne leave the vac lines disconnected plug them up

Yeah, no sign of problems from extending it (yet). I soldered all the joins and ran over-sized wire. I hope it isn't too sensitive.
