WOW I've never even though of a snorkle like that. I really hope your do a write up cause I would love to do this mod. Question though...I was looking at your pics...i'm curiuous why you put it on the drivers side though? Is that a modifed "stock"airbox? What a cool mod man! I think i need to do it think it would look good herculined? hahaha
I put the scoop on the driver's side because the scoop is driver's side specific. I could have done a lot of work to modify the scoop but I found it easier to just move the airbox. Also on my year I would have had to move the a/c condenser and power box to get the scoop far back enough. I also now have room for another battery in the old airbox location.
The airbox I used is from a GM with a 3.8. I walked around a pick-n-pull yard on a couple of different weekends and bought a couple of different boxes before I managed to make this one work. It's actually 1/4 of one airbox grafted to another whole airbox. Both the same 3.8 style.
I've still got all my original intake stuff that would only take 1/2 hour to install. But I just smogged in Nov. so I've got two years til the next one.
WoW! Alec I had no idea! Has your scoop been on the site before? I picked this scoop because it was junkyard-cheap. And it's the only scoop I could find that came off of the hood. You weren't kidding when you said it looked like yours.
Positive Vibes- Is your rig running? If this rain stops maybe, just maybe, we could try out Carnegie OHV on Sat.
Oh man that looks tough Does the pipe slide down inside the air box so the scoop sits on your hood? And how you are going to go about extending the wires for your MAS?
I think Alec and I can peacefully co-exist. Until he comes to CA of course!
Positive vibes, I'll let you know about that as the date gets closer.
Here's a pic of the scoop aparatus out of the car. And yeah I just cut and extended the MAS wiring. I wasn't sure what to do with the vacuum lines that went to the air box so I just left them disconnected. It doesn't seem to affect anything. And the PCV hose is disconnected as well til I figure out what to do with it.
Hopefully there's no problem with the extension of the MAS lines. Even a tiny change in the resistance of their circuit could throw a CEL or something.
