My other problem... (fuel gauge)

When the Explorer is not running it always shows a quarter tank...

But when I start it up drops down to E...

Is that a wiring, float or pump malfunction...

could be any of those. You need to test it. Usually a wiring issue will cause it to either go way F or way E or something similar. You may have a bad sending unit but testing it would be great. Also, check to make sure your gauge is working correctly. There are some machines/tools out there that you can hook up to it and set it to a certain resistance and it should read a certain value (F or E or 1/2, etc.)

I actually thought about gluing it to 1/2 a tank since I fill up every few days...LOL

Anyway how do you check it...

I had hell taking the dash out to get to where I could clean the inside of the plexiglass...

Tried to pull the whole gauge area out but the tight short wires prevented me from doing so...
