my parked X got hit

well i was parked at my girlfriends house tonight and my girlfriends mom back out of their garage and backed into the passenger side bumper/fender. bent the side of the bumper in and caused a bump to pop up towards the middle of the bumper. and banged my fender up pretty good. also created a big gap below the turn signals and the body part below that.

can bumpers be fixed once they are bent?

The insurance will probably just replace it with a re-chromed one, but they can be hammered out in the middle....with a BFH, and a lot of pounding

If you have friends in the body shop, or just get a payment for a new bumper, and use that to buy one....

she's already offered to pay for it....but did decide to just have insurance cover it....since we don't know the exact damages....

As long as just the bumper is messed up, you should be able to replace it without a problem. You can have your bumper fixed, banged out, ground smooth, and rechromed, but I am sure it would be cheaper to go to a junkyard and find a (limited) different bumper. If she hit it hard enough you may want to replace the bumper brackets as well (do front bumpers have brackets? I just know that the rear ones do) Good luck, and I would do as the others say and get cash and go junkyard shopping

You could straighten the bumper and just put a limited bumper cover over it.

Some insurance companies just cut you check. So you could get whatever you want. You'll still have to call your insurance. If you weren't in the car and were parked legally it couldn't possibly be your fault. So your rates won't go up This same thing happend to a friend. He got a new bed for his rusty Toyota.
