My stock HU fails like this.....

Crank up in the morning and push power on. Radio plays but a little fuzzy. 2 to 3 miles down the road and there is a loud electronic "POP" through all the speakers and then nothing. Turn power off then on...still no radio. Later on same scenario all over again. Any hints? Recommend a decent basic CD player that is a easy replacement?

Any good single "din" will work as long as you get the wiring adapter. You need to know if you have the premium radio (with the factory amp) to get the correct harness. Mine was doing that and it drove me crazy.

While you are at it, you should check the speakers. The foam had completely rotted off of mine.

Thanks for the info. Don't think it has an amp but the old window sticker lists it as the "premium stereo cassette".

Gonna get after those speakers at some point but gotta have something to listen to the morning news with. Or I get cranky.

I have premium sound and need a wiring harness. I checked Crutchfield and came up with Item #120705004 for $15. This includes the amp bypass. Does this seem correct>??
