Where did you get the 800D for 220?

thezeb.com $235 shipped.

well, it looks good, i like the drawer part, one thing tho, dont you think your xover level for your suubs is a bit high? i mean 200 hz? its personal preference, and the subs can take it, but the sound gets a little too muddy at that level, you dont think? i think i have mine set at 60 hz.....

everything else, cool....

not bad, could have done better on the subs, i like it though

200 is high, it's just what it's currently set at. I've been experimenting with the settings, I'll probably leave it around 100. As far as the subs, this is my first system, and I could have done better, but even the crappiest subs in the right box will sound decent, so I challenged myself to build and tune a box properly. It's tuned to 30hz.

and it really doesn't sound better at a lower x-over level?

with my last two systems it sounded best between 80 and 100 hz (the crossover located there i mean) and then with a little extra oomph down around 40 hz.

with my new one- on paper my lp for my subs should be at 90hz and the hp for my 3-way comp's should be at 90hz as well, while my rear door speakers will need to be at a hp of 120hz.

are your door speakers only receiving 200hz and up right now?

The install does look good though. it reminds me of my own current one in a few ways actually. it could have really been improved by finishing the inside of the drawer and hiding those wires.

Definitely clean up the wires, but besides that it, it looks good. Nice work!

my subs are set at 180 hz and it sounds better there than at 90 hz. maybe i have wierd subs.

Rap sounds better at 90, rock sounds better at 200. I've left it at 200 lately b/c I've been listening to rock, mostly.

Thanks guys. I thought the wiring was fairly clean.

what you need to do is run it from you cd player down underneath the carpet then around the passenger side by where the person in the front passenger seat would be putting their feet and then down all the way staying on the outside hidden underneath the carpet. sorry if unclear

that doesn't sound weird at all, just doesnt happen often. the internal resonance of the box is determined by the airspace, and the dampening used (like, pollyfill).

if the resonance is high (smaller box) the crossover will sound better when you turn it down and cut some of the higher frequencies out.

if the resonance is low, you can afford to let your subs play at a higher frequency since the annoying backlash of a smaller box's resonance isn't muddying up the sub.

it is possible to stuff a smaller box with pollyfill and turn the crossover up and get the same sound, since the pollyfill takes some of the resonance away and tricks the box to think it has more airspace. :)

The run from the HU to the amps is totally hidden, in the doorsills. I think they were talking about the inter-amplifier wiring visible in the drawer.

I thought about finishing the drawer as well, but the amps heat up a little, and I didn't want the polyurethane to melt to the amps.

i like the setup, the box looks a little small to be ported. how deep is it from front to back? porting as box requires .5 cu. ft. extra airspace per sub by rule. though, i'm not extremely familiar with that version of the sub, the company is known to need a bit of airspace to get them to do their thing.

I built the box exactly to Pioneer's specs. IT's 16 inches front to back.

sounds good

yes, 16 is fine ,the pics make it look like 11 to 12.

Kudos! excellent craftsmanship.

I never knew standards had cruise control too..

I like the drawer, but does the top of the box stick over the rear seats or is it flush?

Tuck those wires away and you'll be set.

it does stick over the seats, by about 4 inches. I really wanted the drawer design, and that was the only way it'd work. I think my next ssytem will be a single 15, with 3 drawers, for batteries and each amp.

Standards do have crise control...if you set teh cruise control and shift to neutral without using the clutch, it detects the speed decrease, and increases to full throttle almost instantly. it's scary if you forget it's on and slide into neutral. Only did that once, and I caught it before the rev limiter. :)

i've done that before with a 1985 toyota sr5 and it startled me pretty good. i went to shift gears and forgot i had the cruise on.
