i went threw the same ****, does the rpm's start bouncing before it dies? And when it does die, it wont start for like an hour, you have to wait?

I had it sit for a hour and tried to start it
but it just putted away @300rpms

Yes, it could be your fuel pump (amongst other things). Testing fuel pump can involve:

1) Probing the fuel pump circuit with a voltmeter to make sure the pump is getting power and that the pump has a good ground. A wiring diagram will be useful in this endeavor.
2) Listening to hear the fuel pump run.
3) Measuring fuel pressure at the fuel rail. Glacier991 posted a little write-up (with pictures) within the last couple of months on how to measure fuel pressure.
4) Pulling codes from the computer. The computer monitors the fuel pump circuit and will set codes if there are gross errors in the fuel pump circuit. The computer can also store codes related to other sytems (ignition in particular) that can cause a no-start/hard start. On the subject of the computer, note that the computer controls turning the pump on and off. A fault in the computer's power supply can affect the operation of the fuel pump.

there is also, fuel pump relay, and the anti roll silinoid, if the truck ever rolls, it will trun off fuel pump, can also be bad fliter, dirty injectors, bleed your IM and see if your gettin fuel,

well i changed the fuse and relay and nothing

it got dark out so tomorows another day

keep them comin

thanx

I heard people talking about an (anti roll switch)

do you know if the 91 xlt are equiped with this and if so where is it located

thanx

Sounds like the fuel pump to me just not pumping strong enough. Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn on the key? Check the fuel pressure at the rail. Turn the key on , place a rag in front of the valve so you don't make a mess. Press in on the valve pin carefully with a srew driver or something. The fuel should squirt out with 35-45 psi,(lots of pressure). If it only trickle out or hardly squirts, it is a fuel pressure problem. Change the filter and try again. I did this before and it didn't help. I replaced the pump and sending unit and it has never missed a beat since.

fixed

well i fixed it

The problem was the fuel pump. After changing the fuses and relay i dropeed the tank and changed the pump.

it runs fine now thanks everyone for the info

If I may ask, since 80% of the work in fixing some things is the diagnosis, how did you determine that the fuel pump was at fault?

my guess is by throwing a fuel pump at it and seeing if it fixes it

Tell me the nightmare of dropping the Tank to do the Pump. I have never done one on a first Gen 'X'. I hear the straps break...yes?

Not sure where to post this but here goes. . .
I have a 93 ford explorer. The solenoid switch went bad and I replaced it yesterday. Well I got stupid and did not take the battery terminals off before I started. When I installed the new switch, it shorted out. I took the terminals off and finished replacing the solenoid switch. Now there is no fuel getting to the motor. I turned on the switch and the fuel pump is not comming on. I checked the fuses and none are blown. I replaced the relay today and still nothing. I checked the fuel pump shut off switch and it is not tripped. Is there an inline fuse or somthing that i'm missing? I meen that could not have made the fuel pump go bad could it?

My guess is a fuse is blown probably in the fuse box next to the brake reservoir. The new relay may now be bad also. Resistance readings with a meter or a test light will help with all of the above.
