So heres my issue. I just bought my vehicle last sunday. And as soon as it got below freezing i noticed my vehicle will turn over but then bog down til it dies. We got some good snow yesterday and i couldnt keep it started last night without revving it up to about 1.5k rpms. seems likes its idling too low. if i let off the gas in park it idles down to around .4 (seems low to me, seems like my other cars idle around 1.5k). has anyone had this issue before?

my first thought was battery but it starts everytime, just wont stay started. so im thinking the choke or something??? any suggestions?

BTW i have to work at 911 today, im gonna take it to autozone tomorrow and see if they can check everything for me.

sounds like the IAC, idle air control valve, do a search on it then clean it out. If that doesn't work then you may have to buy another one.

thanks for the quick response man. i appreciate it... ill check it out

If it idle fine once it warms up, the 4.0 motors are notorious for leaky intake gaskets. Easy job, about $20 of parts. IAC could be dead on too. My most recent bout of this problem was low fuel pressure. Turned out to be a bad regulator.

from what iv read about the IAC (the loud engine whine and startup problems) im pretty sure its the IAC. I just got the car last week so I kinda took for granted the whine just came with it, as stupid as that seems now. So hopefully i can fix or replace the IAC tomorrow. ill post updated news as it happens.
