My X Under Operation

It just seems like an accident waiting to happen to me...even if you had them locked down, somebody would happen to walk by and see it, and toss a match at it, then you are SOL...how often are you gonna use 3 extra gallons of gas? I can almost imagine you posting in a few months, "The paint on my roof is all flaking off...any help?" I'm not dissing your ride, I would just think this one over a few times if I were you...

Gas will never go up there! unless i'm on the highway and run outa gas and take one off the rack and go fill it up. there up there just in case! i'm not going to drive around w/ gas in them. thats stupid. i agree w/ you 100%.

thanks for the conserns. i thought all this over at lowes one day!

Well today i got my Hi-Lift on the Surco rack today! boy are the Hi-Lifts heavy after the 4th time of lifting it up there!

i bought the lock for it and it is mounted on a cross bar in the basket. i added a bolt to the back to lock it down. that thing isn't go anywhere!

pics to come tomorrow!

You have to put a hint of gas smell in the cans, or else they would figure it out before they ruin their car.

Put some gas in them, and then dump it into the X, then fill them with sugar water HA HA!:D

lol good idea! i should do that man. fake them out.

sure teach them not to steal my stuff anymore!

Looks good Dave!! Keep it up!!

Digger, if gas never goes up there, than whats the point of having gas can's up there? You could always just put a spare tire and a shovel up there. those things might be more useful than just gas cans with water. Plus if you forget you put sugar water in the gas, you might cause some serious damage. I'd get a tire and some towstraps or shovels to put up there.
My .02 cents

Tire not going up there unless i go on the trail and then i'll put one up there. as for the shovel. yes there going up there as well. i have plenty of room for every thing so the gas cans are staying up there unless i need the room and then i'll take them down.

Well the new thing on the rack today is a Shovel. It is locked up there and should be helpful on the trail.

i'll get pics if ppl want to see how i put it on there.

nice looking rig :) keep up the good work
one suggestion on the rack mounted lights though, ya might want to move them down to the lower bar, I dont know how the trails are down where you are, but up here most roof mounted things are branch fodder :) Least that way it would give the lights a lower profile

Yes the lights on the rack fold down very easly, i know what you are talking about. on this one trail is a tree laying across the trail, ya have to go under it, i had to exit the trail and go get a saw to finish that trail. i now fit!

here's what i did today when i was bord at my best friends house:

http://groups.msn.com/DavosX/shoebox.msnw?Page=Last

it lifted the X so easly! i was amazed. is it alright to lift the car at that spot? or is thre a better palce?

Today i put tow hooks on the brush grill!!!!!!! i like the look.

i'll have pics if ppl want to see them.

i just drilled them into the bottom of the brush guard and bolted them to that.

Digger,

If you get the time, peel off the pin-stripe. I just did on my 96X5.0 and it looks great.

how hard is it to do that? just start it w/ you finger? then start pulling it. is it the same color as the car and not discolored? send me pics of yours.

Well went serious wheeling today and almost messed up my front. the brush guard saved me!!!!I'll have pics of the trip soon. I went to a old rock selling place and crawled on the mounds of rocks and got pics of there as well. tomorrow i'm going to watch some big dawgs dull it out at payne road in winston. a guy from the forum will be there representing us. my X wouldn't surive the first hole!!! i'll be taking pics!!!!!!!!!

What did ya hit to mess up ur brushguard??

what happened was there was a dip in the trail and i went through it and splashed mud on the windsheild and it went straight up and when i did that the front of the guard hit the hill and bent in from the pressure of the hit. i straightend it out w/ a tow stape and a tree. wasn't hard. just need some gas in reverse and it was straight again!
