A friend of mine has a 2011 Ford Edge and was having bluetooth issues. When he took it to the dealership, they informed him he has a recall 10B20 on his MFT system. The "update" is a timely one and is supposed to have a ton of updates. Does anyone know if this update is coming for the Explorer or did it possibly ship with the newer update?

As of 5 min ok there was no recall on the MFT for the Ex in Fords system.

I confirmed with SYNC Tech Support that the 10B20 programming is exclusive to the 2011 EDGE only and not for our 2011 Explorers.

New SYNC Gen 2 v2.7 due out any day now.

Do they publish what new MFT updates address? I've signed up for the MFT site, but since my VIN is not yet recognized, I assume because I have no Window sticker and the build hasn't started, so I can't really review much.

so far they haven't published what the updates address from what I've read on previous updates. Hopefully they will on this one, I've noticed they've been revamping the syncmyride updates section the last few days, and are starting to make things more clear and meaningful.

If what others are saying is correct yours might be shipped with v2.7 in it from the factory.

We only found out about v2.7 because one poster got his VIN, then logged onto the syncmyride site and set up his account. Thats where he saw v2.7, which no one else had seen.

Then after I called SYNC Tech support they confirmed a new version is imminent but wouldn't elaborate further.

I was told sometime in March.

When you get your VIN do exactly the same thing and see whats installed.

Will do, and I'll report back what it says.

I have the v2.7 showing up too for my 2011 Limited

I'm waiting for delivery of a 2011 Limited. Just checked on syncmyride and it is showing the v2.7 update applied.

Looks like a major update on the site coming. I just tried to log in to see if my version 2.6 changed to 2.7 and saw this:

We'll be working from Tuesday, 8th March 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM (EDT)

We apologize for this inconvenience.

Ours shows V2.4 but as soon as we get it i'll download the latest.

I logged on after this latest maintenance on the site and I see no changes.......anyone see anything different?

Nope, looks the same. My explorer was originally due for delivery on 2/14 and then the blizzards and then the hold. It is released for shipping last I heard, but still hadn't shipped as of last week.

When I log into syncmyride it still shows v 2.4

Our 2011 Ford edge sport came w v2.1, we then got a call from the dealer and after three tries got it updated to v 2.4. Our new explorer shows that v2.7 is loaded. Hoping that the same update will be available for our edge soon. Although I don't look forward to losing the edge for 3 days just to have them update it.....

Hey all,

This is Seni with Ford Customer Service Division. It appears that some of you may have some questions about the program # 10B20. First, I would like to clarify that it is actually NOT a recall, it is a Customer Satisfaction Program.

In some 2011 model year Explorer vehicles with MyFord Touch and MKX vehicles with MyLincoln Touch, various features associated with the MyTouch system may function erratically due to software issues. These features include, but are not limited to, touch screen, entertainment system, SYNC and SYNC Travel Link, Rear-View Camera, Navigation System, and voice recognition system.

In the interest of customer satisfaction, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to improve overall system functionality by reprogramming the MyTouch system to the latest level free of charge (parts and labor) under the terms of this program. This Customer Satisfaction Program will be in effect until January 31, 2012 regardless of mileage. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners. The time needed for this repair is less than one-half day. However, due to service scheduling requirements, your dealer may need your vehicle for a longer period of time. Please contact your local dealer to setup an appointment. If you have further questions, please PM me.

Its so refreshing to see official posts from the source. 10 years with Audi and it was all us vs. them. Issue after issue Audi never had an official stance on anything and hid as much information as they could from the customers. One dealer told me that Audi's official policy was that an engine can burn a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. The next dealer said a quart every 2000. Both told me the other was wrong. Thanks for keeping it real Seni!

MAYBE a turbocharged car MIGHT burn a qt of oil every 1000 miles, but that's way excessive. Nissan just bought back our 350z for oil consumption, the first engine was replaced when it was burning a qt every 500 miles, the last engine was replaced because it was burning a qt every 1500 miles. I think the one that was quoting a qt every 2k miles was more on target, but I don't think any new car (post 2000) should consume more than 1/8th of a qt per 3000 mile change, and that's even excessive.

Seni,

Thank you

Just to confirm this CSP is NOT applicable to the Gen2 Hardware in the 2011 Explorer correct?.....this is only the Edge and Lincoln products.

Sgt1411,

This program does apply to the 2011 Explorer. Please see above post correction. I apologize that my initial post was directed to the Edge.
